As we come to the end of this season’s Learn-to-Row program, we’re thrilled to celebrate the incredible progress our group has made over the past few months. The early mornings and hard work are paying off, and it’s been amazing to watch each rower develop both individually and as part of a crew. From mastering balance to finessing the basics of the rowing stroke, our team has come a long way!

The journey began with finding balance – literally! Learning to balance an eight can be a bit daunting at first, but with persistence and teamwork, the group quickly found their rhythm. The basics of the rowing stroke were next. Watching them find the catch, push through the drive, and finish with control has been so rewarding, and it’s clear they’re all proud of how far they’ve come.

Some members of the squad have even begun learning to scull, adding another layer of skills to their repertoire. Sculling demands a new level of coordination and balance, but they’ve all shown determination and focus, making this transition with the same dedication they brought to learning sweep rowing.

We’d like to give a big shoutout to each member of our Learn-to-Row group: Jackie, Summer, Sam, Sophie, Sophia, Jason, Josephine, Antonio, Farnaz, Olivah, Chloe, Charu, Joanne, Elishbah, and Joe. Your energy, commitment, and enthusiasm have been contagious, and it’s been a pleasure to row alongside you all. Each of you has brought something special to the boat, and we can’t wait to see how your skills continue to grow in the future.

A special thank you goes out to our dedicated volunteers. Without your guidance and support, this program wouldn’t be the same. You’ve been patient teachers, steady hands, and encouraging voices throughout every step of this journey. Thank you for helping our crew feel welcomed and confident as they learn the ropes.

As this Learn-to-Row program wraps up, we’re excited to see many of these new rowers stay on and continue their rowing journey with us. The dedication and growth we’ve seen in this group remind us why community rowing is so important. Here’s to finishing strong and to all the adventures that lie ahead on the water!
